There are a great number of messages coming to us today that are warning us of coming tragedy and dark times. There are countless teachings that contradict each other coming from well-known bible teachers. There are common questions about whether five-fold ministries are for today and whether women can speak in church along with questions about eternal salvation and at what point the “rapture” will take place. Then there are the age-old questions like, “Where did Cain’s wife come from?” And, “Why does God let babies die?”; “Why does the bad man get rich and the good man die of cancer?”
We are constantly attempting to understand so many things without a basic comprehension of God Himself. We, many times, attempt to interpret God and His Word without truly knowing Him because we have our priorities backwards. Knowledge of God comes before knowledge of how things work, or even of knowledge of truth.
Moses had questions and wanted to see God’s glory as most christians do today. See what God said about that: “Then Moses said, I pray You, show me Your glory! And He said, I Myself will make all My goodness pass before you, and will proclaim the name of the Lord before you; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show compassion on whom I will show compassion.” (Exodus 33:18-19)
“Then Moses said to God, Behold, I am going to the sons of Israel, and I will say to them, The God of your fathers has sent me to you. Now they may say to me, What is His name? What shall I say to them? God said to Moses, I AM WHO I AM; and He said, Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, I AM has sent me to you.” (Exodus 3:13-14)
Could the answer be as simple as God’s answer when He was asked who He is? God simply replied, “I AM”. God told Moses, as He would tell any of us today, “I will let you see My goodness.” The word goodness comes from the word “god”, and means Godlikeness.
Knowing God is the answer to all our questions. When we question Him, He will often answer us by stating “I AM”. There are many ministries today who are going back to the old covenant sabbath and worshipping on Saturday. The argument persists, is the sabbath recognized on Saturday or on Sunday? The truthful answer to this is “I AM”. Jesus said, “The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath”. The fourth chapter of Hebrews tells us that under the new covenant, Jesus is our Sabbath seven days a week.
We could almost sum up all that we need to know by stating Psalm 103:1-19: “Bless the Lord, O my soul, And all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget none of His benefits; Who pardons all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases; Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion; Who satisfies your years with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle. The Lord performs righteous deeds And judgments for all who are oppressed. He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the sons of Israel. The Lord is compassionate and gracious, Slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness. He will not always strive with us, Nor will He keep His anger forever. He has not dealt with us according to our sins, Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, So great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. Just as a father has compassion on his children, So the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him. For He Himself knows our frame; He is mindful that we are but dust. As for man, his days are like grass; As a flower of the field, so he flourishes. When the wind has passed over it, it is no more, And its place acknowledges it no longer. But the lovingkindness of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, And His righteousness to children’s children, To those who keep His covenant And remember His precepts to do them. The Lord has established His throne in the heavens, And His sovereignty rules over all.”
We must stop questioning God. We must stop arguing over things that only God has the answers to. We must stop praying against things that are happening in our day that have been foretold by the Old Testament prophets that they WILL happen.
HIS SOVEREIGNTY RULES OVER ALL!
HE WILL BE GRACIOUS TO WHOM HE WILL BE GRACIOUS!
HE WILL SHOW COMPASSION ON WHOM HE WILL SHOW COMPASSION!
OUR QUEST FOR KNOWLEDGE SHOULD BE FOR MORE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD!
It is impossible to know what God is talking about in scripture if you do not first have an intimate relationship with Him. Scripture is spiritually discerned and only spiritually understood!
It is my prayer that this be the year that the Church has a divine revelation of The Father. Knowing Him is all that matters and is our answer for all of our unanswered questions. God, and only God, is the great “I AM”.
