II Corinthians 2:14 addresses the issue of the natural man. He is learning doctrine and revelation by his mind instead of by his spirit. He is applying human knowledge and human wisdom in doing things and then experiencing failure. But if he would let his spirit get free from his mind (soul) and let his mind become the slave of his spirit (locked in with God), then he would have supernatural, divine wisdom and knowledge to apply a divine result with divine power!
